In the closed space of communism, the myth as a literary method taught us again the joy to imagine worlds protected by hidden, occult knowledge. The myth as a literary method creates a counterdiscourse about the world re-presented artistically, a couternarrative understood as a survival form.

The paper aims to outline the global scope of Mircea Eliade’s shorter prose from the point of view of the sacred, with the aesthetic ciphering of Gnostic scenarios retracing the initiating structures. From a postmodern point of view the symbolic thinking actuated in the text is decoded from an aesthetic, ethnologic, linguistic, anthropological and religious perspective, proving that literary and scientific imagination can complement each other
